Christopher D. Long is Chairman and CEO of Palmer Square Capital, and Co-Founder and Owner of the Kansas City Current

Chris Long founded Palmer Square Capital Management, an approximately $30 billion AUM asset manager focused on corporate and structured credit with offices in Kansas City and London, in June 2009. Currently, he serves as Chairman, CEO and Portfolio Manager. Since inception, Chris has been successful in building one of the premier credit investment firms in the world with an enviable client list that includes not only large institutions and family offices, but also RIAs, bank/trust, and broker-dealers. Prior to starting Palmer Square, Chris built a deep investment background at some of the top financial firms in the world including Morgan Stanley, TH Lee Putnam Ventures, and JPMorgan & Co. Chris’ breadth of investment experience includes hedge fund investing, private equity / venture capital, and finally, investment banking.

In December 2020, Chris added the title of Professional Sports Team Owner, as he joined CoFounder and Owner Angie Long and Co-Owner Brittany Mahomes in bringing a National Women’s Soccer League franchise to Kansas City. The Kansas City Current launched on an extraordinary timeline, playing its first professional match just 124 days after the franchise was announced. As owners, Chris, Angie, Brittany, and now Patrick Mahomes have had a clear vision of not only establishing the best women’s soccer club in the world, but also having the Kansas City Current serve as a model for all women’s sports. The Kansas City Current has built the only training facility with a women’s professional team as the sole tenant and recently celebrated the completion of a privately financed stadium on the Riverfront in downtown Kansas City.

Chris serves on the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Board of Governors and Expansion Committee as well as on the Executive Committee of the Kansas City 2026 World Cup. Chris was recently recognized for winning the prestigious Kansas City Sports Commission’s 2022 Sports Executive of the Year, 2022 Sports Business Journal’s Power Players in Women’s Sports, and Ingram’s Top 250 Leaders in Kansas City. He has been recognized for his work being named to the University of Missouri – Kansas City’s 2023 Entrepreneur of the Year and Kansas City Magazine’s 2023 Power List: The 50 Top Power People in KC. Chris is a recipient of The W.F. Yates Medallion for Distinguished Service from The Trustees of William Jewel College. In November 2023, Chris was inducted into the Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City Business Hall of Fame. Finally, Chris serves on the Board of Directors of the KC Sports Commission and Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and in many roles related to Princeton University including serving on the Alumni Council Executive Committee; President Eisgruber’s Advisory Council and as a member on the Capital Campaign Executive Steering Committee. In addition, Chris is a member of YPO and the Economic Club of Kansas City.

Chris received an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School and an AB degree in Economics cum laude from Princeton University.
